Dog Cloning
In the near future the practice of dog breeding could be replaced by dog cloning. The first ever cloned dog, named Snuppy, shows that it is possible to produce a dog that is the genetic twin of another canine. However this process remains very difficult and expensive to carry out.
In theory, cloning would allow people to create a twin of their favourite pet or an exact replica of a breed champion. The two dogs would have the same genes, making them identical in appearance and characteristics, although they would not necessarily have identical markings.
