Steal a puppy and face prison

Wed, 29 Nov 2006

In a recent theft that took place near Hythe, Hampshire, seven Staffordshire-Bull-Terrier puppies that were only 8 weeks old were stole .

Steven Hendry, a twenty one year old former Paratrooper, broke into a house through a window where a father lived with his nine year old son.

He stuffed the puppies in a bag before he jumped over the garden wall and got into a waiting car, said a witness who managed to take down the registration number of the car that helped to catch the thieves.

Hendry sold all the puppies but luckily some were returned by the unsuspecting buyers themselves, the Police recovered some, as did the Dog Warden Service at New Forest District Council.

Hendry already had 10 previous convictions for theft, dishonesty, uninsured driving and disorderly behaviour. Miss Evans, the Judge at Southampton Crown Court, gave him a seven months prison sentence.
