A sniffer dog for Durham police is becoming highly sought after following a prolific year in which the dog helped to secure over 120 arrests. The three year old Labrador retriever, Dibley, has contributed to 122 arrests in the past year, largely motivated by his rewards, typically consisting either of food or a pat on the head.
Dibleys reputation has now spread so far that handler PC Dawson is having to travel as far as North Wales with the dog to assist potential arrests. Dibleys typical work involves travelling to bars and clubs sniffing out drugs such as cannabis, rohypnol, ecstasy, heroin and cocaine. Dibleys handler reportedly went on to add that the dog is not set to retire any time in the foreseeable future.
