A Rottweiler dog has mauled a thirteen month old boy to death at his grandparents’ Wakefield home . The tragedy happened two days prior to the boy’s mother’s 18th birthday . The boy had been at his grandparents for the festive period when the family pet snatched the toddler, Archie-Lee Hirst, from the arms of a seven year old child, carried him into the backyard and attacked him.
The seven year old child alerted her 16 year old aunt, who called the emergency services having been unable to recover the toddler from the grasp of the dog.
The two and a half year old dog weighed between seven and ten stone, police have reportedly said, and have since decided to destroy the animal given the danger she represented to the public.
