American Football Star Ordered to Pay USD1 Million in Dog Costs

American football star Michael Vick has been ordered to pay nearly $1 million in dog care costs after his 54 pit bulls were seized earlier this year. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback is awaiting sentencing following a dogfighting case, having pleaded guilty to conspiracy in conncetion with an illegal interstate dogfighting enterprise on his property .

The 27-year old has agreed to pay the costs of caring for the dogs in a plea deal which should see his sentence, which will be no longer than five years, reduced to between 12 and 18 months.

Although Vick is just three years into a 10-year $130 million contract with Atlanta Falcons, not only must be pay the costs of caring for the dogs, but his team have launched legal proceedings against him as they claim he owes them nearly $20 million.
