Six Men Imprisoned Over Organised Dog Fight

Six men have been jailed for their involvement in an organised dog fight last year. A seventh man received a four-month detention and training order, with his lighter sentence virtue of his status as a youth at the time of the fight. The defendants were aged between 18 and 43, with three of the men receiving six month prison sentences and the other three receiving four month prison sentences. The nineteen other defendants were each fined between £500 and £1,400 for their involvements.

The organised fight was on such a large scale that the police officers at the scene needed to use a double-decker bus to transport the offenders to the police station. In fact, the fight was the biggest organised fight uncovered by police since 1867. The RSPCA have revealed that two pit bull terriers dying as a result of their injuries in the fight.
