A man has been jailed for 16 weeks for putting his dog in a washing machine . The 41 year old from Dudley had initially put the dog in the washing machine to teach it a lesson, but took it out soon after. However, after noticing her tail was still wagging, the man put the dog back in the machine but forgot and fell asleep. After finding the Staffordshire bull terrier-labrador dead in the machine, Andrew Glazzard put the dog in a bag and threw it into the River Stour.
The man admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and told the court of his regret at the incident. He is expected to serve two months of the sentence in jail and spend the final half under curfew. Despite being found guilty of cannabis possession, he faced no further punishment for that offence.
