An eight year old dog has saved the life of an abandoned baby boy by taking him into her care. The dog, who the Argentine media are calling La China, reportedly found the boy in a field and carried the baby 50 metres, placing him alongside her own puppies . The baby boy was found by the dog’s owner who heard crying noises coming from his dog’s puppies. Upon being found, the baby weighed 8 pounds and 13 ounces, and was in good health aside from some slight injuries .
The mother of the baby, who was 14 at the time of his birth, made herself known to the authorities upon hearing of the baby’s discovery, and claimed to have panicked and abandoned the boy in a field. The police and the authorities are now deliberating over the child’s future.
La China is said to be anxious at her new fame, and is concerned for the welfare of her puppies. The Argentine media have dubbed the story as the Argentine Romulus and Remus.
