A new set of stamps is to feature a Perth based mountain rescue dog . The eight year old dog, named Merrick, has become the first highly trained working dog to have a stamp devoted entirely to him. Merrick works on behalf of the Southern Scotland Search and Rescue Dog Association, with owner Lynne Warden quick to praise the decision to place the cross bred Labrador on the stamp.
Mrs Warden reportedly stated that the new found exposure that mountain rescue dogs will receive is justified credit for the underacknowledged work they perform. Along with Merricks 46p stamp, five other designs have been released, featuring assistance, customs, guide dogs, police and sheep.
