An American woman has made the first commercial order to clone a dog . The unnamed woman has paid South Korean company RNL Bio $50,000 to clone her dog Booger, whose recreation will be of great help to the lady given the fact she is disabled and has trouble walking.
The cloning of the pitbull is the first commercial order for a dog to be cloned, though RNL Bio hope to see as many as 500 similar orders each year in the future. RNL Bio would usually charge $150,000 to clone a dog, though as this is the first instance, and as the woman has agreed to allow the news to be publicised, she has received a large discount. RNL Bio will conduct the cloning with the help of Seoul National University stem cell scientists.
Indeed, it was scientists at Seoul National University that produced the worlds first cloned dog in 2005 when they recreated Snuppy, a cloned Afghan hound .
