Seized Obese Dog on Road to Recovery

Fri, 25 Jan 2008

A brown Labrador has lost six stone in under two years following the RSPCA ’s decision to seize the dog . The dog, called Rusty, was the subject of a cruelty case in which two Cambridgeshire based brothers were found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the dog. 62-year old Derek Benton and his brother David, aged 53, were told that the dog could return to their care if he was correctly fed and cared for.

Since being seized, Rusty has seen his weight fall dramatically. Having reached 11 stone at his peak in March 2006, the dog had lost just under four stone by January 2007, and has since lost a further two stone meaning his weight has halved since the RSPCA’s intervention.
