One in seven of all pet insurance claims are the result of clumsy cats and dogs, according to figures from Saga Pet Insurance . Cats most commonly pick up injuries as a result of road accidents, incurring a vets bill of around £705 on average. However, dogs carelessness most commonly results in feet and ligament injuries, for which the vets bill is typically much larger, with fees of up to £9,000.
The figures also showed a regional difference in the carelessness of pets . This was particularly evident in the South East of England, which is home to the countrys most clumsy dogs. Saga estimate that just 29 per cent of dogs are insured, which could leave pet owners with a hefty bill to pay in the case of an accident or injury .
