Dog Flatulence Attributed to Womens Presence

Tue, 11 Mar 2008

Scientists have released the findings of a study demonstrating a link between dogs’ flatulence and the presence of women. The five year study showed that dogs are more likely to pass wind around women that when around men. Both men and women emit chemical signals called pheromones, and although dogs display no reaction to inhaling a male pheromone, a female pheromone increases the speed of the dog’s digestive system .

As a result, less of the food can be broken down, meaning more of it is available to bacteria in the animal’s intestines. Consequently, the animal flatulates more as methane and hydrogen sulphide gas is expelled from the body. Dog flatulence can be reduced by avoiding close contact with a female for the first hour after the animal has eaten.
