New DVD alerts owners of overweight dogs

Wed, 12 Mar 2008

The manufacturers of Britain’s first weight loss dog food, Formula K have released a DVD that alerts owners if their dog is overweight .

The free DVD also contains information about dogs needing to lose weight .

The DVD features vet Sarah Hill who examines four dogs and declares that most of the four are overweight.

Signs to look out for if your dog is overweight:

1. From the top of the dog look down the dog to see if the dog narrows at the waist. If not the dog could be overweight.

2. Looking from the side of the dog, see if there is a tuck behind the last rib. If there’s no tuck, the dog could be overweight.

3. If a dog’s ribs are easily felt the dog could be overweight their ribs should not be visible.

4. If ridges can be felt along the dogs spine. A lack of ridges means the dog is probably overweight.

The manufacturers, Wholesome Nutrition feel the DVD will help people examine dogs.

Vet Sarah Hill said, "We’re all used to seeing overweight dogs. So it’s easy to regard an overweight dog as normal, when in fact they need to lose weight".

Copies of the DVD can be obtained from FormulaK.co.uk/DVD.htm
