A Berkshire dog owner is calling for more to be done to ensure that owners can keep their dogs under control.
While out walking his King Charles Spaniel Ben, Joseph Hope, 74, came across a German shepherd who went for Ben and shook him to death in Lily Hill Park, Bracknell in July.
Mr Hope said that the teenager in charge of the German shepherd could not get the dog to release Ben which resulted in Ben dying from internal bleeding.
He strongly believes that children should not be walking powerful dogs they cannot handle alone especially if they are not on a lead.
Ben was one of two dogs owned by Mr Hope, who is now too scared to walk his other dog in the vicinity.
Mr Hope said, "Ben was a lovely dog, a very loving dog, a very devoted dog, a very loyal dog. We miss him terribly.
"I suppose you could say he was irreplaceable, obviously, and priceless. He was absolutely priceless."
