The RSPCA has rescued a dog which was stranded on a cliff ledge for two nights. After the dog became stranded on the cliff ledge near Bude in Cornwall, initial attempts to rescue the dog were hampered by the dog’s aggressive behaviour towards the coastguard team trying to help the animal .
A spokesperson for Maritime and Coastguard agency said, ‘Sadly the dog's not had a good day and it appears to have injured its bad leg which may have made it more aggressive’.
The 13 year old dog was eventually rescued as a female inspector was sent down the cliff together with a male colleague. The pet dog was given food and water, before being put in an animal bag and lifted safely and unharmed to the top of the cliff. RSPCA spokeswoman Jo Barr revealed a team of six inspectors were involved in the rescue of the elderly canine .
Owner Jane Ravine said she was delighted to have Fox back home and praised the RSPCA inspectors. Mrs Ravine said, ‘They did a brilliant job, were very skilled and were also really nice to me when I was incredibly worried. I cannot thank them enough for everything.’
