A dog that went missing more than four months ago from its Cornwall home has been found in East Lothian, Scotland . The animals owners, Sonya and William McKerron, have been left amazed at their pets 550 mile voyage. The duo had lost sight of the pet collie on February 6th and could not find her despite searching extensively. In the end, they gave up hope of finding their 17 year old pet, named Lucy.
All that changed, however, when the couple received a call from the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home last Saturday, before being reunited with the animal on Tuesday. Lucy had wandered into the garden of a Haddington family home, who called the police before taking her to the home, where she was scanned for a micro-chip, allowing vets to locate the dogs owner.
Manager of the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, Dave Ewing, voiced his belief that Lucy had been taken by someone rather than just becoming lost, accidentally or otherwise. He said that he and his colleagues thought the Cornish phone number that came up after scanning the micro-chip would be an old one, but spoke of their delight at finding it to be accurate.
