A new animal rescue charity has been set up to help cope with the problem of rising numbers of abandoned dogs . Last Resort Dog Rescue WSM was founded earlier this year and is calling on anyone willing to become a foster home to get in touch. The Weston and Worle based charity was started by a group of pet passionate friends concerned at the plight of pets in need of rehoming .
At present, the charity only has the capacity to take in a couple of dozen animals a month, but is calling on pet lovers to offer their help. The charity differs from many animal rescue charities in that it will take pets with mounting vet bills or behavioural problems, and will work with foster carers to help retrain the pet. Indeed, the charity has even accepted dogs from other rescue organisations, as well as individuals, and pledge to never turn away a dog if they can help.
Last Resort is hoping to hold a dog show this summer to raise funds for vets bills, food and other expenses. To be able to hold this fundraiser, however, the charity needs a local landowner to offer them a large field for the show and car parking.
