Pet insurance specialist Petpals Direct has launched a new type of pet insurance policy aimed at placating pet shy landlords . TenantCare Cat and Dog insurance is designed to make life easier for estate agents and tenants by insuring a property for any damage caused by pets to the rented accommodation . Tenants can claim for up to £700 of damaged caused by an animal in the first 36 months of their policy, and £500 thereafter.
It is the only product of its kind, and also covers pets against accidents and illness. Policy holders are also insured for up to £1,500 of vet fee cover for cats and £2,000 for dogs, helping protect against unexpected vets bills.
Prices start from £5.17 per month for cats, based on a six month moggy living in Derby, and £8.42 for dogs, based on a six month Jack Russell living in Blackburn. Petpals Direct claims it will help prospective tenants secure their desired house. A wide range of illnesses are covered by the insurance, and there is no waiting period and no upper age limit.
