Sainsburys Launch Pet Insurance Offer

Fri, 04 Sep 2009

Sainsbury’s Finance has launched a new pet insurance offer giving consumers three months free insurance when they take out insurance for their pet . The offer applies to new customers who take out a policy by 6th October 2009, and will wipe off the costs of the remaining three months of the calendar year. A further 20 per cent discount is available to animal owners who buy their insurance online before the same deadline, whilst those who are claim free on renewal will receive £30 of Sainsbury’s vouchers .

Research has shown that the number of pet insurance policies in the UK has fallen sharply since the start of the economic downturn. With pet owners looking to save money, any unforeseen vet bills could prove too great a burden for many animal owners. Sainsbury’s Pet Insurance Manager, Lucy Hunter, revealed that more than 450,000 people have dropped their pet insurance as they look to save money.

With the number of unwanted cats and dogs also on the up, it is hoped that more owners will take out pet insurance so they will not need to give up their pets when an untimely bill arrives. Sainsbury’s Pet Insurance provides cover of up to £7,500 per condition for veterinary treatments.
