Pet Insurer Makes Donation to Dogs Home

Petplan has made a £500 donation to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home to help the animal home cope with costs. The donation is designed to reward the pets home for its good work in trying to rehome unwanted dogs and cats . Finance manager of the animal home, Rosemary Egglestone, says the money will help to provide unwanted pets with the attention and care they require.

Petplan has partnerships with a number of pet re-homing charities, offering four weeks of free pet insurance to all new owners who adopt a pet from one of its affiliated shelters. Marketing manager of the pet insurance provider, Alison Andrew, says the offer is designed to reduce the difficulties encountered when adopting an unwanted pet, helping owners to ensure the animals health, and to afford any unexpected vets bills.

Animal charities such as the RSPCA urge pet owners to ensure they have the necessary pet insurance to protect themselves from unforeseen costs. However, given the vastly differing degrees of cover available, pet owners are urged to ensure they have the right policies for their needs.
