Dog Treatment Costs Mr Loophole GBP5,000 After Failing to Read Small Print

The celebrity lawyer dubbed Mr Loophole has had to shell out £5,000 in vets costs after failing to read the small print on his pet insurance policy . Nick Freeman specialises in helping wealthy celebrities to evade criminal convictions, but despite his ability to use obscure details to win cases, he has fallen victim to a condition of his pet insurance policy on this occasion.

Mr Freeman recently took his family on holiday to their holiday home in Southern France, including the family’s five year old Staffordshire bull terrier named Rocco. While on Holiday, the pet dog collapsed, in what seemed like a routine case of heat exhaustion. However, the animal failed to recover as expected, instead ending up in a private animal hospital for tests.

The lawyer has thought the pets medical costs would be covered by the pet insurance policy he had taken out, only to discover that he had failed to notice the small print requiring him to inform the insurance provider that he was taking the dog on holiday, while paying an additional £100 premium for the international cover.

The case acts as a lesson to those with dogs, as although pet insurance policies can appear cheap, there may be additional premiums that must be paid, while policyholder should also check the maximum sum a provider will pay out.
