The PDSAs PetCheck vehicle is set to arrive in Newtownabbey next month, and pet owners are being encouraged to drop by for a free dog health check. The veterinary charity has been running a UK-wide animal health check tour a tour which lands in County Antrim from Wednesday September 8th until Tuesday September 14th.
Dogs brought along by their owners will receive a free check up, with an onboard vet present to examine the animals body shape, weight, eyes, teeth, coat and general fitness. The health check is predominantly designed with dogs in mind, though vets are happy to offer free advice on other animals such as cats . Due to safety reasons, however, no other animals can be admitted to the PetCheck vehicle.
Senior veterinary surgeon at PDSA, Sean Wensley, has urged pet owners to bring their pets along for a check up, with one in four dogs seen at last years visit suffering from dental disease, while one in three were overweight . Wensley added that the tour represented a vital part of the charitys ongoing work to improve and maintain the health and welfare of the UKs pets.
