A vet has removed 13 golf balls from a dogs stomach after the animals owner noticed a rattling sound. Chris Morrison from Dunfermline noticed an odd noise coming from the stomach of his five year old black Labrador, called Oscar, and subsequently took his pet dog to the vets .
Mr Morrison, a planning administrator, regularly walks his dog on a golf course near his home, though that the two things may be linked had never entered his head. However, when the vet, Bob Hesketh from Rosyth, opened up the animal, he discovered a seemingly endless supply of golf balls in Oscars stomach.
Mr Hesketh could initially see just two or three balls, but kept finding them lodged in parts of Oscars stomach. One ball had been in there for so long that it had turned black and begun to decompose. The vet has ordered Mr Morrison to make Oscar wear a muzzle during walks, and the animal has also been put on a special post-op diet of watered down food.
Instances such as this offer a reminder to pet owners of the importance of pet insurance policies.
