An x-ray has revealed the surprising source of a dogs illness – she had swallowed five toy cats . 42 year old Samantha Reed owns the dog, a one year old white West Highland terrier named Snowy, and became concerned when her pet dog began vomiting and lost her appetite. After consulting vets, it was initially believed that Snowy was suffering a bad reaction to dog food, and was subsequently placed on a diet of rice and chicken.
However, with the pets ailments continuing, a vet advised that Snowy should give urine samples to test for a kidney problem, and decided to place Snowy on a course of antibiotics. An x-ray was eventually taken, revealing a number of toy cats, much to the surprise of the vet. The vet said she was lucky not to have suffered internal damage, and that she could have died had the toys reached her small intestine.
Nigel Belgrove from Cromwell Vets commented that it was the most bizarre x-ray he had ever seen. Golf balls and batteries were among the oddest things he had seen animals swallow previously.
