The Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) has invited dog owners in Vale to bring their dogs to their PetCheck vehicle from Wednesday to Sunday this week to receive a free health check for their pet . The vehicle will be located in Barry from Wednesday to Friday, before moving on to Penarth this weekend. A veterinary nurse will be on board to administer the health check, which involves assessing the pets weight, fitness, coat, teeth, eyes and body shape. Only dogs can be brought to the PetCheck vehicle for safety reasons, but the on board vets will field questions about the health of all types of animals .
The PetCheck vehicle’s visit to Vale is part of the PDSA’s UK-wide PetCheck tour aimed at improving the health and fitness of dogs across the country. It is estimated that 25 per cent of dogs in the UK are overweight, meaning promotions such as this one by the PDSA are crucial to raising awareness of the importance of a good dog diet and having your pet enjoy regular exercise .
The PetCheck vehicle will be open from 10am to 5pm each day, except on Sunday when it shuts an hour early.
