RSPCA Inspector Rescues Same Dog Twice in One Year

Fri, 11 Jun 2010

A dog has been nicknamed Houdini after an RSPCA inspector rescued the animal twice in the space of a year. RSPCA inspector Julie Fadden was called to an incident in which the dog, named Scruffy, was hit by a car in Swansea. Scruffy had escaped from his home via a cat flap, and reached the road after jumping onto a wall and scurrying through a hedge. Fortunately, Scruffy was not seriously injured in the incident, but was taken to vets for tests regardless.

When Ms Fadden reached the incident, she recognised Scruffy having rescued the dog earlier this year. Ms Fadden had taken Scruffy from a house in Merthyr before new owners were found after Scruffy was taken to the Llys Nini RSPCA dogs centre near Swansea.

Scruffy only moved into his new home at the end of last month and owner Sue Overment revealed that everyone had been out searching for Scruffy once she realised the dog had escaped.

Ms Fadden commented that the pet dog was extremely lucky, noting that it was the first time she had rescued the same dog in different parts of south Wales.
