eBay users have funded an emergency operation required by an abandoned blind dog . Alison Little from Dordon found the white terrier, named Snowy, while performing voluntary work for the dog rescue charity The Little Dog Rescue. Mrs Little realised the dog was blind and in pain, and had seemingly been thrown out by his previous owners. Mrs Little rushed the pet animal to the vets, who carried out an emergency operation to remove one eye. Subsequent tests revealed that glaucoma had also infected his other eye, in which he was also blind.
During the treatment for Snowy’s first infected eye, Mrs Little listed the dog as ‘on sale’ for £1 on eBay. However, such was the demand to donate money, Mrs Little had to keep relisting Snowy, eventually raising £590 in donations. The donated money paid for the dogs second operation, helping to improve the pets quality of life.
Mrs Little said she hoped the auction would raise awareness of small rescue charities such as the Little Dog Rescue, which has no kennels but instead relies on the generosity of local people. It has been decided that Snowy will remain with Mrs Little.
