Guide dogs charity is appealing for volunteers to become counter top collection box co-ordinators in Devon and give support to their Every Penny Counts campaign.
The iconic collection boxes will be cropping up in 40,000 new locations across the UK with the campaign aiming to raise £1 million over the next three years. As a Guide Dogs collection box co-ordinator, volunteers establish relationships with shops and businesses and are responsible for distributing and emptying the boxes and depositing any donated money. There is flexibility in the role both in time and location and it allows residents to become more active in their community.
Amanda Bealing, regional volunteering co-ordinator, said: "Because Guide Dogs relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions to fund its services, every penny collected helps make a life-changing difference to blind and partially-sighted people. We could not raise these vital funds without the support of our volunteers, just an hour a month is all it takes to make a difference."
