Today the River Run and Marksman brands of dry dog food have been recalled as a result of unacceptably high levels of Aflatoxin, which is a natural toxin that can prove dangerous to pets when eaten in great quantities.
This recall comes after P&G recalling its Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food yesterday, that too due to Aflatoxin contamination.
The recalled River Run and Marksman dry dog foods had been distributed throughout the USA.
Retailers had already been informed to remove the affected dog food brands from shelves in shops and supermarkets.
The dog food had been manufactured at Cargill’s Lecompte, Louisiana, facility for a year commencing 1 Dec 2010. There had been no report of any illnesses.
The recalled dog food includes the listed products with packaging date codes (lot numbers) 4K0335 through 4K0365, LL0335 through LL0365, 4K1001 through 4K1335, and LL1001 through LL1335.
