Dog owners in Cheshire are being encouraged to nominate their pooches for a top award.
Dogs Trust Honours celebrates the difference dogs make to the world we live in and focuses on the extraordinary stories of heroics and canine lifelines .
Categories include: Hero Dog, for acts of bravery; Golden Oldie, for dogs over seven that have achieved a lot in their lifetime; Dogged Devotion, for dogs that provide emotional and physical support and act as canine lifelines for their owners; Celebrity Canine, for dogs in the public eye and Dog’s Best Friend, a category for dog lovers who deserve recognition.
A judging panel that will include celebrity dog lovers Martin Freeman, Graham Norton, Miranda Hart, John Partridge, Brian Sewell, Clare Balding and Nicky Campbell will choose the winners, who will be presented with their awards at an event in London in June. Award-winning comedienne Miranda Hart said: "I am delighted to be a judge. I can't wait to hear all about the nation's most heroic pooches and I won't lie, will probably do a little weep, they are so gorgeous."
