A Welsh sheepdog who is still working after having a leg amputated has won the National Farmers Union (NFU) farm Dog of the year award.
Owners Ian and Ruth Rees from Powys entered Jack into the canine competition run by the NFU, who challenged members across England and Wales to send in a picture and 150 words explaining why their dog should be named top dog in the competition. The Rees family explained how he had suffered a serious leg injury last year and despite loosing a leg continues to work on the farm.
The competition's judges were impressed by Jack's battle against adversity. NFU Cymru president Ed Bailey said: "The competition was open to all shapes, sizes and breeds of dog and we were absolutely inundated with entries. But it was Jack who overwhelmingly won over the panel of judges. This is a dog who has certainly seen his fair share of adversity following his accident last year but who has bounced back to his hard-working, irreplaceable best."
