Dog Owners Attempt to Thwart Fees for Dog Mess

Fri, 06 Jan 2012

Many dog owners are avoiding paying £50 fines for their dogs' mess by providing false details.

Most of the penalty notices that are handed out to owners who do not clean up after their dogs are not paid.

This is easily done by those who lie as to who they are.

The problem should perhaps be addressed more carefully than it is presently handled.

Perhaps it is time for a crackdown on dog mess. Effective prosecutions would mean the message is getting through about how serious the problem is and how seriously it is taken.

Dog mess from a specific dog of a specific owner is difficult to prove. Witnesses are needed to prove it was a certain person.

In the winter this is even harder as people walk dogs in the dark and you cannot see what is happening.

If only people were more responsible and respectful we would not be in the situation we are in. It is not a lot to ask of dog owners; use your plastic bag to scoop the dog mess into.
