The American Humane Association has stated that four workplace aspects can be enhanced by the presence of a dog.
It claims that the mood of employees can be uplifted by interaction with the appropriate type of animal; that sales increases have occurred in certain workplaces which choose to allow a dog in to the premises and of course dogs are an aid for crime prevention.
Such benefits can only be derived if the dog training is of the highest quality.
An improperly disciplined dog can only create havoc in the workplace.
Most UK workplaces exclude all dogs other than guide dogs from their premises.
Of course there are health and safety reasons for such practices and at times certain employees have allergies to dogs.
