Dog owners could save 15 per cent on their pet insurance with Direct Line if they insure more than one animal on their policy.
The offer, which came into effect on January 8th, also applies for any new customers.
Edd Barclay, head of pet insurance at Direct Line, said owning more than one cat or dog can be great fun for both pets and their owners, as animals tend to get more exercise and pet-to-pet socialisation.
"Caring for a pet can also be very costly, particularly when veterinary care is required, so we would urge all pet owners to ensure their feline and canine friends are covered," he added.
Direct Line also undertook research into the names chosen for pairs of cats or dogs. Charlie and Lola are the most common names for a pair of cats, while Poppy and Daisy are the most popular for dogs.
Popular culture seems to be influential when owners choose names, as Tom and Jerry, Buzz and Woody and Bonnie and Clyde all seem to be favourites. Charlie is the name that appears most frequently among both cats and dogs.
