Early life is a vital time for dog training

It is important for dog owners to begin training their pet at an early age.

This is according to Sarah Linehan, dog trainer and behaviourist at the Pet Experience – which offers advice and guidance for all matters related to pets – who explained animals learn quicker in their early years.

Ms Linehan revealed she tends to begin training the first day she takes a pooch home, which is usually when the four-legged friend is around eight or nine weeks old.

The expert noted a lack of training can lead to many problems, including some related to socialising.

“It can lead to nervous aggression with other dogs and people, it can lead to a really, really timid dog that isn’t actually aggressive but is terrified of everything,” she added.

People may therefore want to make sure their pet learns sooner rather than later about what behaviour is acceptable and what is not – such as teaching them not to jump up.

This could result in children being knocked over and owners getting into trouble with other pedestrians.
