How to prevent pet parasite misery

All pet owners know of the misery parasites can cause. So a special live WebTV broadcast will take place tomorrow with TV vet Luke Gamble and England rugby player James Haskell.

The aim of the show is to answer any parasite related questions pet owners have and what symptoms or warning signs to look out for. However the best course of action is prevention.

While fleas and ticks are a nuisance they are not fatal but the lungworm Angiostrongylus vasorum can be fatal to dogs which is why protection is so important. Other parasites that will be featured are Toxocara and Tapeworm.

So to get pet owners back on track the programme called ‘It’s a Jungle out There’ also has launched an app that is free to download which offers a reminder service for any parasite treatment that your dog needs.

The app allows users to create a profile of their pet which includes information such as breed details, microchip number, date of birth and weight. The app is currently available for iPhones and iPads and can be found under ‘Jungle for Pets’ in the Apple App store for more information see itsajungle.co.uk

The broadcast starts at 2.30 on 11 September 2013 at studiotalk.tv
