Marcel le Corgi is certainly a popular pooch. With over 70,000 followers on Instagram, the five-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi is the most popular corgi in the UK. Marcel is extremely well travelled and very cultured. To date, he has visited an impressive 11 countries, which is more than most Brits have travelled.
Marcel isn’t just a pretty face. He is bilingual, with the ability to bark in both English and French. Generally, he enjoys dividing his time between the UK and France.
There Isn’t Just One Marcel
This cross-country canine is more than just a dog who likes to explore. Marcel represents one of many dogs who want to travel. It is now more popular than ever for dogs to accompany their owners abroad. New research conducted by Eurotunnel outlined that 67% of UK dog owners were planning to go away with their pets. This year, almost one million people are planning to obtain a passport for their dog.
Why Miss your Dog When They Can Travel With You?
Having your dog accompany you on holiday can have various health benefits. 82% of pet owners in the UK claim that they feel far more relaxed when their dog is with them. This does make a lot of sense. Being away from a beloved companion can lead to worry and owners miss their dogs greatly.
Almost 18% of owners admit that they FaceTime their pets when they are on holiday without them. Another 13% also admitted to setting up a camera at home so that they can interact with their dog whilst they are away.
Celebrate National Pet Month With Marcel
April is National Pet Month and to mark this occasion, Marcel will be followed on his road trip through France. He will stop at his favourite places along the way and pet owners are encouraged to look out for the dog friendly destinations that they can hopefully visit in future.
